I'm bored. I'm a bit drowsy as well, at the moment, which is 2.13pm, but I'm bored.

Mr. Snuffy is going to stay in bed all day like a smart man. I am going out. I don't have his bug, but I have been around a sickie for the last 2-3 days. So, I'd love to visit folks, but I'm worried...might not be contagious, but I might carry something. (Then again, I think he needs one more day, and then we can go out tomorrow or Saturday).

But I need out. I think I'll run up to Beers Books (I think Thursday is their open late day). I need to look at Bogey's.

I just need OUT.

But I think I'll take a nap. Actually, have felt productive. Ran the laundry I skipped yesterday. Have Mulled. Did more homework last night, and downloaded more homework files today. Finished Prachett's Pyramids.

Feel the need to get more done. Want to down load and CSS/XHTML editor for my PDA that I found at TuCows. Want to create a website for testing my pages at doteasy.

But I want some store time and people time. More than anything, I want OUT. Some private out time, and then some Public Out time. I want some sketching and writing time.

I want to respond to Mouse's poem. I want to post about Bhutto, because I'm pissed in three different directions. I want to post something light to Tortuga, because I want to imagine being a pirate on a properly democratic pirate ship, AND I've left the start of a steampunk vessel that I set up for a quickie just before the SP party LAST NOV (and started that entity on a Halloween mode to boot) and now I've got and OCD tidy Scottish Megalomaniac floating in Tortuga whom I've got to get rid off, or get afloat.

But first, I need out.
And before that, 30 minute kip on the couch.

Not sure. Right now, off to see the doctor at the clinic about my eye.

Last night somewhat productive: threw out and sorted old papers. More to go.
And today, pulled out ALL the shoes to sort through.

I. Need. Shoes. For. Dance.
I think. Must go through these, see if any will support and cushion feet. Hell, would like to see if any of these are between the ranges of "AUGGHHH TOO TIGHT!!" and "whoops, that went flying off sorry about your forehead".

Gah.

What do do

A few weekend plans did not pan out, due to changes in other peoples plans, my lack of planning (or uncertainty in planning/calling people), and generally my body deciding it needed more sleep.

So, did not go for mega drive today. Did not get together with folks, or even get small part of clothes dropped off (they stop taking donations at 2pm.) Did not go minature golfing.

Did top off fluids in car. Did pay some bills online. Did leave messages for a few friends. Trying to stay in contact.

DID set aside some anime so that I can as Mr. Snuffy/Padre to you, Yorufu, so that we can see what is his and what is yours so I can deliver a bike and anime to your place....

but I digress...

Called the weekend clinic for eye advice (still red). If it seems a problem, will go to clinic tomorrow.

Remainder of the day

Need to get out in some sunshine...today or tomorrow?
Need to get eye drops.
Need to get shelving from Home Depot?
Need to wash more Dad clothes, and cull more of the closet.

Need to go to a fabric store and buy patterns.

Need shoes for dresses, and more importantly, a pair of shoes I can dance in. Have the Cap slippers, have the Cap sneakers. Need character shoes. Must check on Sac capezio hours.

More later. Tomorrow may involve a drive or dancing. Or more organization.

MUST get the room cleared out. Watching UB DVD with Mr. Snuffy isn't helping that, is it? Or the homework..

Update: and go over my voting ballot
And, if no one in this house can identify what a small part, do-hickey, widget or some piece of shit does, it's going out.

I may spend this evening throwing shit out.

Little things getting done, each being given their turn.

Clothes have been sorted, washed, and set a side. Not all of them...but enough that I can manage the load, evaluate, and get to the thrift store or the mission. And [livejournal.com profile] aleeceh and [livejournal.com profile] elhoff reminded me: my old suit can go to WEAVE.

Old papers are next. AND, that will be time for me to revive the FAFSA campaign. Maybe there will be funds for this year. And maybe I can enroll in something in spring. AND need to get Elder Care Advocate referrals to two acquaintances.

I got back to my Spanish audio lessons...and using my dictionary to transcribe, so I can practice writing and reading.

Making sure web pages studies are still done at least a small bit each night. Going through HeadFirst/OReilly books HTML/CSS/XHTML. Read the book, now doing the homework on the XHTML. And reworking The Web Page. Once I can get the pics floating the way I want, and we get a gmail account, we are done.
Also doing studies HTML 4.01 review at W3schools.com while at work, when the brain gets fidgety. Not the most eloquent lessons, but quick and fast, and more up to date than Goodies to Go on what's transitive and strict or obsolete.

Going over Student Vegetarian, so that I can have what I want in the pantry that's not all convenience. Want veggies and protein in grains (salads, casseroles or soups), or Stuff In Wraps. Have actually started baking and cooking again as Fun Projects.

Knitting and crocheting again. Plan to salvage an multi sized afghan.

Trying to keep on news and music at work. Accutune has an all Celtic channel(s), ranging from rock to trad.

Pryacticed fiddle at pryactice on Thurs, and fiddled at home on Sunday.

Still need to make more time for physical therapy each night, but try to do my lifts and crunches.

Trying to check the kitchen and laundry to make sure I'm keeping up on my share....and throwing things out, or giving away. Have money to buy storage shelves for garage next month. Also hoping to buy fabric for a basic suit in this season silhouette and colors.

Trying to remember to write and call people who I haven't contacted in awhile---which also included going for an ice cream stroll with Dearbhail at Folsom and chatting. VERY funny. And she got us free ice cream by putting a man in his proper place.

**************
All this isn't as busy as it sounds. I'm just doing these in little bits when I get into gear---but I've got more energy to get into gear now.
Some of this time has been devoted to nothing. Sleeping. Reading Pratchett. Watching Ugly Betty. And getting writing practice in. This last also involves some goal setting tasks; the writing is part of a self evaluation project.

Baby steps.

Updated 3 Dec Sunday 11:50pm: Confirmed missing CDs to be replaced. Best of Dave Brubeck. Toots Thielman, Brasil Project Vol 1. Glory of Gershwin by Larry Adler. Ouch on that last.

1. Slept in, took in car at 9am. Described both sound, suspected problem and budget. They told me to come back at 1:30, and they could probabably take a look at the car. Drove home.

2. Made breakfast, designated as quiet time (omelet w/our tomatoes, mushrooms, kalamata olives; plain yogurt and dill topping). I miss cooking. Read recipe books. Too long on line w/doctor, will call later. Have frozen cranberries and large green apples. Dessert problem solved.

3. Read music sheets, tried Parting Glass on Penny whistle. Still not there.

4. Wrote back to story teller about lesson plans, ideas, projects. Where I want to progress. Research on Irish poetry.

5. Set timer for 15 minute nap. Took car to Precision Tune. They listened to car. Said belts and water pump are fine, think I need an oil change, tightening of a filter tube. Suggested come in tomorow morning, they can do oil change, and run the car up air base parkway and see what they hear. Suggest changing a mount, but need not be immediate, and they can get me a price quote on the part.

(I like these guys. Last time my battery died, took the car round to get prices quotes on new battery and installations. Batteries ran 80 to $110, no labor quotes.
Took it to these guys.....they told me the battery was holding a charge just fine, I needed the connections repaired. They did it for $22.00.)

Came home. Looked at weeds cracking the driveway and sidewalk. Ripped them out. Then came in and settled in.

OK, whittling down little bits. Whittled the Car problem. Whittled down the Sleep problem. Still whittling down the potluck question. Whittled down the Front Yard Horror problem.

Little bits, little bits.

OK. Locked up that last entry. Bad one. A bit better, still...woundy-uppity.

Part list, part mulling and mental sorting. Part tiny confused whine/self butt kicking (yes, needed).

P.S. Love you all. Just trying to sort all of you, all of me, and all of...."stuff".
Sometimes there can be so much love and fun and joy, in addition to the stress, it gets overwhelming.

But on a more interesting note: [livejournal.com profile] kay_gmd, [livejournal.com profile] groblek, and myself completed our social dance course. Well, we did....we just didn't attend last night's final class of 'everything you've learned and a few new tricks". I felt crappy and wasn't going to inflict this on students.

Will miss Donnelle, Leon, Charles...and Todd. And Austen. There's something about learning to tango with a guy in baggies.

What we learned (per the syllabus)

East Coast swing basic in open and closed position, outside and inside turn, leader's wrap.
Foxtrot, left corner turn, promenade---and underarm turn
Cha-cha: basics, crossover, progressive, turns

Waltz. We were bummed. No spinny. We discussed this with the teacher Donnelle. She said the spinning waltzes were a bit much for beginners, and "Spinning is like crack". I pointed to Kay and G and said, "Meet the crackheads."

Waltz: basic box, forward step change, left box turn and underarm turns---and hesitations and promenade hesitations.

I missed the rumba, but caught up a bit in the next class: basic box, cuban walks, and underarm turns. I could get to like this one.

Tango. yes American. Basic walk, promenade and corte. NO head waggles, no arm flings.

Well, that was interesting.

Note: updated 7:36pm 12 March, after cough medicine and pain killer and several hours of sleep had worn off. Yes, will fix the spelling. No, did not get sewing done on Sunday. Had fever and headache most of the day.

Actually worked on webpage studies until 2:45 in the morning, did not get into bed until 3:30am Sunday morning. Slept until 9:30am, so did not visit friends in Davis. Went back to sleep shortly after noon, woke up just before 4pm. May try sewing later, but will see what correspondence has to be done.]

Huzzzah!!! Have accomplished two kinds of Clones knots. Look like tidy little sowbugs on a chain.

Redoing one panel of the Michigan afghan, before uniting. Argh.
Cannot start on embroidery studies until I finish the afghan. BUT, also need to list blackwork stitches and patterns in time for next faire. Whenever I show up. Please, want to go to Tahoe.

Will sew tomorrow. Massive headache today. Slept through most. Faire gear and need to start on RL stuff for ME.

Will work on webpage until 1am or so, or at least a small part. Must contact senior bay area pryanksters about links and possible photo usage. Definitely want feedback from senior/higher up pryanksters.

Finish up 2005 diary notes. Can do this while I'm working on webpage. Damn. Need music.

Decide on next language to download. Renewed Spanish notes while sitting in bed this morning with angry sinuses. Want to continue, need to learn Spanish. Have been interested lately in learning Italian.

Found out that NOW husband would like to try French. 2 years after the Paris trip. Had been considering trying out basic simple Japanese with him, so that we have some kind of shared hobby. BUT...

JUST FOUND PIMSLEUR'S INTRO TO IRISH AMONG MY AUDIBLE.COM CHOICES!!
However, took a listen on the sample page. This will make my tongue hurt more than Japanese or Spanish. Wah. Just want a good reason to go back and finish French studies (no one thinks French is useful; I just like the sound and it flows off my tonge easier than other languages.). Maybe Italian for the beauty of it. Arabic would be a good idea.

Ooooh....they have Brazilian Portuguese....samba samba samba.....

Desperately need paper copy of GTD, 2 actually, one for me, one for office (to assist me and perhaps persuade co-workers that we should not prioritize by who screamed loudest most recently). Need Allen's GTD for office prioritizing and processing; using bare idea of Covey's 7 habit 4-part grid for home life.
Hope one of these works.

Things I thought before I got to Word at work to put them down and didn’t think to use the new muvo to record safely while driving.

To do’s: Contact Mr. Wylie about posting to my webspace
Contact Renee
Cancel community college class
Sign up for staff development classes
Copy the three template poems into a word document at work and home
Call Ruth for birthday

On LJ:
Recap of 2005 aka Year 1 In the Year of Pryank Life
Resolutions
Resolutions II: Books to finish
Writing: The Virtues of Vice
Try to introduce an Exquisite Corpse at Live Journal
Link to Feathers of Hope, and printing class Pica is taking. Even better than Geranium photos.

Things I brought to work in the hopes I might get a chance during breaks to work on them
Renee’s afghan strip, a nice winter afghan that should be available by Spring
The three template poems to copy (see above)
Syllabus for Spanish tapes, and Rick Steve’s Spanish (for reading, writing, and pronunciation guide)

Notebook for Spanish (self study): to practice writing, get words/tenses/genders into my head, and write out pronunciations so that I hear the tapes more clearly (not sure if reader on tape has a slight Castillian accent—I can’t always distinguish B’s from P’s from V’s).

One or two diaries to catch up.
Pennywhistle. What was I thinking?

Possibly before going home and/or dance class:
buy new capezios. It’s an investment.
Buy lingerie. Same reason as above. I’m an investment.
Joann’s---need hook and eye tapes, lion’s yarn for scarf.

When I get home:
wash more towels
Play with website
Learn to use CD burner,
Throw out/pull out more closes
What do I need in fabric, sewing? More to buy at Joann’s. What needs mending in faire gear bag.

making gravy from a long weekend.

May pass on the blues duo tonight....may be content to lounge around Casa Pryankster and see what hits the table. Was taught a bit of Settlers of Catan last night...lost, but had fun. VERY interesting. Brought homework and crochet with me....but did not accomplish much of either!

So, will see about going back tonight. Just enjoying company and meeting new peoples.

Bought shoes today for Dickens dancing and walking....would like to go next weekend, but will see. May take the opportunity to go when I can.

Am off Monday. Tempted to go to Berkeley on Monday. Will see. Want to do homework. May save trip to Lacis for when I have other yarn/thread/fibre freaks with me. Plough for beginner classes, and to watch...and listen to live band? Maaayyybe. Understand this can be done by BART, with an escort or fast feet. Maybe drive. Will see.

Doc appt w/Dad on Tues morn....but not until 9:30, so some sleeping in late. Relatively. Will take rest of the day off.

Sometimes it's easier and more fun to throw things out.

It's a smidge after noon, and I still need to run out and get fabric. Just finished running a hot tub (must get to food co-op and see about a chair massage or trust the ladies at Osaka).

And yet, still decided barely over 45 minutes ago that I was sick of the car looking as messy as my house, marched out, pulled everything out, and I'm going to pay for the handwash and vacuum. The kids working there are going to weep.

Those of you who have ridden in the garbage truck may now breathe a sigh of relief. But keep up those tetnus shots.

P.S. How do y'all do lists and line outs on LJ? Couldn't find it in the FAQ.
temperance14: (Default)
1. more reading for homework.
2. finish up diary(s)
3. Attack Vacaville or Woodland for 4 yards of muslin.
4. Davis?
5. Put away the art supplies, filing (or stuffing) of paperwork, and then den will be relatively done.
6. store off season clothes---or just dump old clothes
6a. Figure out some kind of storage/organization for back bedroom and clothes.
7. Find shoes---yep, that means Davis and thrift stores. Or on line ordering for speed, if not economy. Check Land's End.

Oy. I'd rather be doing the homework.

timewasters yesterday )
temperance14: (Default)
Just a standard to do list.
1. Sleep in---oh, wait. Did that. Fell asleep last night in the den waiting for the laundry to finish. Day off anyway.
1a. Check through e-mail. Post a LJ to someone I should have done two days ago. Will miss you, R.
1b. Get phone call from [livejournal.com profile] mrsgiggle. Love you too.
1c. If its going to be "miss pryanksters day", I'm going to call Madam Tromboni and see how she is. Be right back. OK, left message.
1d. Reminder to self--buy plastic tubs, bankers boxes. Whatever. Clean your spaces in the house this weekend. Baby steps. Have lived like hermit too long. Want spaces for people to sit down in home.

2. Get ass out of house and drive to Sacramento to hunt down text book for class. Ordered book weeks ago. Teacher substitution 2 weeks before class started. New teacher is using diffent book. SCC is sold out, as is B&N Fairfield, Borders, and UCD doesn't carry it. No from CompUSA, so driving to Fry's in Sacto. They don't answer the phone, so I don't know if they have it.

If I find the book, start on homework. Else, order on line w/shipping ASAP. Need this book by next Thursday.

3. Shop for 4 yards of off white muslin---sewing lessons start on Tuesday, hopefully.
4. Run around Davis a bit. Can I do the Irish Crochet book this month in budget? Perhaps will do this Saturday or Sunday. Maybe just walk in my arboretum, which I never get to do while I'm working on campus.
5. Write Amnesty letters. Write essays, edit old pieces while cleaning.
6. Watch the Buffy that C lent you. While cleaning.

Suffice to say, knitting and crochet has gone on while all this was being done or mulled. Need more granny squares to make frightening purse/pack.

Can they use truly use knitting and crochet in Romania or New Orleans? Or are those internet projects just something to make yarn junkies feel better about how they spend their time. Wouldn't the Red Cross just prefer money or army blankets/mittens/watch caps, bought quickly at a camping store?

....SCC has one copy left!! Hauling out at 11:20!!
