Meanderings and Wanderings

temperance14Just to write as I want, in small spurts at my desk, instead of when I can get away at break. Sorry for all this. Was thinking about writing today--in LJ, in private journal, in assigned pieces. And not having the time to think the process through, properly---let alone the time to write, proof, and edit. But you have to write---it's like blood flow---your head and hand need to write, to muse on random thought, and get those concepts down as chosen words on paper, to keep. Or with light/electricity/magnetism, to share.
Yeah, I know---clutter.
What is safe to write in LJ? Must always remember—it is public. Even with a lockdown of friends only, or limited/special interest groups---it’s public. What was once private, secret, may be passed elsewhere, inadvertently or otherwise. It may offend. There may be vents—minor, trivial, but that need to be let--but cannot risk hurt feelings.
Vents are explosive--may be passed on, reinterpreted, or simply expanding in the telling.
LJ should express yourself—but not too much, not too deeply. Communicate with friends—but who, which ones, what groups? (yes, we are always in groups or foci or divides). You want to let friends/passersby know the real you---but not too much, for you want them to stay friends. Even if there are no harsh words for others---if you express harsh words toward yourself, you can lose the respect of others. LJ is for extroverts, optimists, doers, hobbyists, travelers, artisans, performers, explorers--respected journaling. But some of us…just poke our fingers outside of the wall, to see what impressions we make in the dirt.
LJ should express yourself in all your moods, fair and foul---but not all of that. Most people do not want to see an underside. You wander through strange woods to see new and beautiful foliage---not to turn over rocks and see the maggots.
