Ouch: supplement pain?

I know there's a lot more important stuff going on...but have any of you ever had headaches after taking supplements? I've had the problem of stomach discomfort before, but in the last month I think I get headaches short after taking vitamins and minerals.

I take:
"Women's Multi Vitamin" with iron. This may be a consideration; someone told me that I should no longer take extra iron.
Calcium with D
Glucosemine (sp?)glucosamine
lysine--another substance I've heard questions about.

Lord, I feel dopey asking these questions.

Call your Doctor.

Seconded.

Y...eah. I generally err on the side of not using supplements, because they're unregulated and generally poorly tested in humans. Also, supplements tend to contain ENORMOUS percentages of the vitamins they're supplementing, which means that it can be really easy to overdose yourself without realizing it.

All of which leads me to think... okay, one multivitamin per day makes sense -- most doctors are of the opinion that even if it doesn't help, it probably (see that word? even multivitamins are poorly tested) won't hurt. But anything beyond that is overkill, at least in my book.

Which is a long, emphatic, and probably overly strident way of saying: "This is a behavior that generally worries me, and yes, I would make sure your doctor knows what you're taking (chemicals AND dosages) and that you discuss any side-effects with your doctor as soon as they come up."

thirded on check with doctor.

Otherwise, if you've been taking these with no problems before, did you change brands? Change anything else?

Umm...really vague thought that more sun now = more natural Vitamin D which may interact in some fashion with the Calcium with D or the multi. Just because it's something that's changed, not because I've heard of anything happening like that.

Otherwise, if Dr. says those should all be fine, and there's still headaches, there's always elimination. Drop one from the regimen and see.

Oh, and what are you taking them with? Could also be reacting to that.
