Communting in this morning from Fairfield to Davis, I noted the electronic signs stating the I-80 (I presume eastbound) would be closed the wee hours on Dec 4 and 5 (12am to 5am).
Which means that if you stay late on Saturday or Sunday night, and will be passing through Vacaville after midnight, your pooch may be scrooched, and you will be diverted to a detour.
This gets interesting:
1) The electronic signs said Dec 4 and 5. But at 511.org, the closure was listed as:
"IS CLOSED TO EASTBOUND TRAFFIC AT LEISURE TOWN RD /IN VACAVILLE/ (SOLANO CO)
FROM 0001 HRS TO 0500 HRS MONDAY THRU SATURDAY THRU 12/10/05 - DUE TO
CONSTRUCTION - A DETOUR IS AVAILABLE"
Best to presume the worst and assume a detour from this weekend through next.
2) If they detour you up to Monte Vista drive, Hamburger Hill, and the industrial park route---PLEASE be careful. I took the westbound version of that detour last month. It was short tight narrow turns, very dark, and startled the hell out of me----and I normally take that turn off every week for my night class.
Take any detours slowly, please. Suggest you get a map of Vacaville.
I'm thinking take 505 north to Midway Road exit, turn right/east, then past Leisure Town Road to Meridian Road, turn right/south, and you should be able to re-enter I-80 to Sacramento at that point. BUT...that is just looking at a Google Map. Not sure what they have laid out.
I'm trying to get a hold of info at CalTrans (yes, have checked their website). The traffic update in the local news and radio station have not had the information I need.
