Still making my way through
Apr. 12th, 2005 11:16 pmOK, Temperance realizes that she doesn't have to back date her entries to write about past dates.
Temerance is learning she doesn't have to be AR.
Back to Saturday.
Treated myself to a Waltz Workshop. Excellent, hosted by Scott and Tom of Friday Night Waltz. Yes, this should be known to most of you---and yet I still find Pryanksters is a mix of those who do FNW, and those who say...huh? (Well, the other newbies anyway. Could not find any of the new girls who wanted or could go to Sunnyvale for the workshop.)
I'm not the brightest bulb in the chandelier--I drove past the building twice. Very nice. I did the beginners track all the way through, obviously. My waltzing is as bad...no, worse...than my English Country Dance. Again, it's a brain problem--I zone out at the wrong time. (I need to try a Harry Potter meme...I think I'd come up Luna Lovegood. God, I hate ADD.)
Lovely time, had a great time dancing. Missed the beginning of rotary waltz, but Tom is great about pulling you in and getting you up to speed. The one-step class (yes, a class for one step!) was a great idea. It gets the beginners to relax, have fun, and let themselves improvise.
Social mixer afterwards. Thank you to A for having the courage and patience to take me out on to the floor for a rotary waltz. Another beginner tried to get me out for a cross step waltz, but my nerve (and confidence in my feet) failed me. Very sorry I did not join him. I met Adam (also at Tribe.net) who was very friendly, warm, chatty, and an enthusiastic marvel at dancing. We watched the cross step mixer; Adam claimed he was disappointed that he had not joined the dance (there is apparently no dance that Adam would not like to jump up and join!). His enthusiasm cut through my reticence, and so when Tom called for Congress of Vienna, Adam and I both looked up and headed for the floor. Unfortunately, my friend from the the beginner's class, who could not coax me into a cross step, came back just then to ask me to join him in the Vienna--very sorry and embarassed that I had to turn him down twice in an afternoon! Other than that, had an excellent. But much to learn and correct in my dancing--too leaden, poor posture, and wide turns. I dance like an SUV.
OK, was going to attempt an LJ cut, but it's well after midnight, and I've got to be up by 4:30 tomorrow. Long day at work tomorrow, and the rest of the week is not going to be much better. Will be relying heavily on rest, vitamins and Paxcil for the next 7+ days. Will attempt the cut tomorrow, and fill in and the Saturday night dump.
Yes, need to learn to make these shorter.
