One (?) more note and queries about
1) Does anyone remember what we were singing for closing parade on Saturday or Sunday? I think it was closing on Saturday (wide line of Pryankster ladies, holding hands). It was funny, it was modern. But I'll be damned if I remember it. I do know that at the gate,
mrsgiggle started up with "So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersen etc", and B&S were booming out "Hey Hey Hey GOOOODBYYYYEEE". And showing off their nah-nahs.
2) I gigged with MrsG. I gigged outside the front gate. It worked: chatted with two people in bfa, inviting them to join us in the shire. They inquired what was going on, asked questions. I told them of the lovely shire and wonderful things to see and eat. Did not step out of gig. But, they were on bikes, so I figured they weren't coming in.
Spotted one of them 15 minutes later, on foot, watching us dance. Said she and her friend were going in, and just parking the bikes. Yeah gigs!!
3) Was a day for sore ankles. One p'ster hit a divot, I nearly followed 5 minutes later. Lumpy hill, outside the gate of the shire. In afternoon set, on the flatlands before the brass rubbings, another maid rolled an ankle. And a few sore knees from prior injuries among some of the gentlemen. I twisted and sprained my brain in one set, and had to step out, but no one died and the faire did not collapse, nor did cracks appear in the sky.
4) Princess Kitten was presented to Queen Mary in a breathtaking long white christening ensemble. Very proud parents and Pryanksters, as can be seen here, courtesy of
terpsichoros.
St. Santiago's (?) guild groused (cheerily) that they'd been "Upstaged by Rattlers". Perhaps next year, we should present her to the leader of St. Santiago's. Hey, always keep the privateers on your good side: Royalty and their arms come and go; the Jolly Roger always flies.
5) Went shopping with MrsG and
battymaiden. Later returned, and after closing of camp MrsG got group hug and singalong, as noted by
satyrlovesong. (Hug Onion choral? *g*).
Let me add, for
satyrlovesong and J: yes, the song was very, very much appreciated by
mrsgiggle. She talked about it wistfully in the ride back to the airport. She felt the choice of song was perfect. (It ran through my head all that night on the drive home, and now I cannot bring the words to mind.)
6) Drove mrsgiggle to airport. Opted to park and help her settle herself and packing. After the United's fiasco with her luggage the first time, I decided to wait with her in the luggage check in line to keep her company, spirits up, and help move luggage.
Hey, you try putting on hair ribbons while moving an upright hardcase golf bag through a looping line.
Checked in, walked her back to the 'point of no return leave your relatives here' spot. I started to walk out, waving and calling goodbye. She looked puddly. Sooo....dropped my introversion, and "So long...farewell..."
and, yeah, started singing 'auf weidersen good niiiggght'.
Yes, did it in key. Wavy hand gestures and all. AND still in Renn gear.
Hey, she giggled.
Skipped down the line and out of sight, still singing and waving.
You'd think people who lived or visited San Fransico would be used to this stuff.
