The hard part about writing about faire (besides finding the time) is

1) the details fade too fast--I need to take notes as things happen. But I can’t be seen out with a notebook at Faire. Well, faith, Anne Dickson is the simple wife of a turnip farmer. T’is not as she is one to know reading and writing!
Perhaps some scraps of linen stitched together, or some heavy parchment colored paper, and a stick of charcoal….I could make notes with [livejournal.com profile] tsgeisel type figures.

2) Some of what I remember about the faire is important or amusing to me, not LJ readers. And some of it is internal…such as the joy of spending so much time with [livejournal.com profile] mrsgiggle. I like having sisters now, even if four decades late. She and I got to spend time talking teasing sharing secreting chastising for two nights. And much as we passed her around Pryanksters for all to play with, I still got time to roam around faire with her, and gig a bit.
And she was not the only one; there were others with whom I enjoyed very good times, laughing or just chatting. Learned much. Got hugs, a few kisses. Yay!

So…
To summarize the day: we had lovely sets all day, and I browsed among stands. I danced a bit, and no, did not buy the socks I planned or the crochet that tempted me. Knitted a bit in the yard, making sampler scarf. Had good conversations and confidences.

Saturday we got up groggily. Dressed (thank you Major for scarlet linen) and drove down to the camp. Breakfast, lovely eggy weggs and rashers and tatties. (Screw authenticity, we had taters, and maters and nanners.) I did a walkabout to see the booths before first set.

[livejournal.com profile] terpsichoros introduced Daphne. Daphne met Maximus. First set went well.
Lunch was fruit and a light ploughman’s lunch. Back to a short street set, then off to the wedding.

Lovely bouquets provided by [livejournal.com profile] mrsgiggle and [livejournal.com profile] moondanceminx. I was near the back, did not catch everything (hope that the Major and brides will provide text of ‘sermon’ and vows). Loveliest was the participation of us all—-our vow to the couple to support them. This is a Family bond, world. Lovely singing by brides’s roommate (Amy?). Oh, as [livejournal.com profile] whalejudge noted, brides were preceded by Danse Macabre. And after the ceremony we all danced after the brides, when all was said, loved and done: a grand ribbon of family weaving through, back to guild yard home. Feast and the puffed sweet yeast bread cake pileup (thank you [livejournal.com profile] serendipity17).

[livejournal.com profile] mrsgiggle and I washed dishes in the setting sun and twilight. I asked her to tell me about stories about Pennsec while we worked. Then, since I had left my army blanket in the car, Major kindly gave me a small bit of yardage, and draped and pinned it round me Scottish, so that I would not be too cold. Giggles and I gave up trying to find fast food, and headed back to 7-11 near motel, for classic slumber party food: Nachos, hers with a chaser of burrito, mine with an attempt at 2 Hostess Cupcakes. Sisterly talk and giggles until we fell asleep.
