<a href="http://beatonna.livejournal.com/151658.html?nc=11#comments>Another Bronte smack down</a> No, really, I try Jane Eyre next time. Has to get better. Maybe I need to watch Olivier do his turn on this.

Another historical cartoon from Kate Beaton.

And don't forget to click on the 2nd link for a lovely (if grisly) Horrible Histories song about the duo.

Ms. Beaton salutes Emperor Norton.

Even as far back as 2007, she was respectin' the Emperor.

Are there Emperor Norton tours? Or does one just stand atop the highest points and say, "Yep, it was all his."

I was almost going to title this: No tights, no tits. But not quite accurate.

I discovered Beatonna on LJ a few months ago. Very quirky comic artist. No super heroes...well, not regularly or regular. No swords...well, no, she draws some good fops and swashbucklers.

Just a loopy style, quixotic subjects---and lots of historical characters. And Canadians. Or conversations with younger selves.
Oh, just go peek.

When you are one giant step beyond prissy.

sidenote: I need a new mood avatar. About 1/3 to 1/2 of these are the same damned expression: little sun with mouth gaped open, wide eyed and shaking.

Oddly enough, "shocked" is the one I'm using now.

The old car was briefly named Serenity (just in the last two years). Mostly, she was called Baby.

The new vehicle is a bigger vehicle. [livejournal.com profile] barelyproper has suggested something Valkeric. Perhaps Brunhilde?

I thought this one ought to be named after another sci-fi ship: but what. Haven't seen any wonderful fantasies in a while. (None on film, anyway.)

Ah, but comics. And since mass mood has shifted from brown coats to great coats, deer stalkers, veiling and corsets, we need something with a bit more steam.

Do we call her Wulfenbach?
The Heterodyne?
Lucrezia Mongfish?
Bangladesh DuPree?

Cannonball Jane?
Nah. Not enough balls....
